And and Dec’s new BBC show has been axed before a single episode has even aired.

The BBC has reportedly decided to cancel the new Ant and Dec’s Street Car Showdown before making it onto our TV screens.

The Geordie duo are know for their work on ITV hits Britain’s Got Talent, I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

The new show would have been their first return to the BBC for more than 30 years since they first met on the set of Byker Grove.

Ant and Dec see new TV show axed

An insider told The Sun: “This was a bit of a passion project for Ant and Dec as they’d had an interest in ‘car modders’ since they were youngsters.

“As backers of the show they would also have been returning to the Beeb, more than 30 years after they appeared on BBC One’s Byker Grove and met one another.

"They couldn’t actually appear on the show due to their contractual obligations with ITV 1, but they were the show’s creative consultants.

“But after a pilot was made in 2019 — just after the project was announced — a decision was taken not to progress it into a full series.”

Ant and Dec win best TV presenter at NTA’s for 20th time

The disappointing news comes after Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly won the best TV presenter prize at the National Television Awards for a 20th consecutive time earlier this month.

The presenting duo faced competition from Piers Morgan, who had set his sights on ending their domination at the event.

Taking to the stage, Ant said: “We were talking in the car on the way here and the first year we won an NTA, Tony Blair was the prime minister and Newcastle United qualified for the Champions League. It just goes to show how long ago it was.

“But do you know what? This one means the most. Twenty years. This is really, really special. You have no idea how special this is.”

Dec added: “When you get to 20, you can’t help but stop and look back at the first time we won in 2001, and so much has changed in both our lives since then but one thing that hasn’t changed is how unbelievably grateful we are that you take time year after year to watch both of us.”
