A “jealous” suitor has been found guilty of bludgeoning to death an amateur boxer with a claw hammer after she rejected him.

Mother-of-two Sandra Zmijan, 32, was hit repeatedly over the head by Wojciech Tadewicz in a fit of “jealousy and uninhibited anger”, jurors heard.

Afterwards, Tadewicz, 27, cut his wrists and was taken to hospital as Ms Zmijan’s body lay in the back garden of his home, the Old Bailey was told.

Police had been to the address in Hayes, west London, on September 21 last year after the defendant attempted to kill himself out of “remorse”, jurors were told.

Three days later, officers returned and discovered Ms Zmijan’s body after she was reported missing.

Officers also found a bloody claw hammer and bloodstained jeans with DNA linking the defendant to the killing.

The court heard that Ms Zmijan was a keen amateur boxer who was due to compete in an Ultra White Collar Boxing tournament.

On September 19 last year, she had texted the defendant to say they could “only ever be friends” and the following day travelled to his home to collect his ticket for the event.

Jurors were told the defendant denied murder, claiming to have no memory of events after he smoked cannabis on September 20 last year.

On Thursday, Tadewicz, of Whittington Avenue, Hayes, was found guilty of murder and remanded into custody to be sentenced on Friday.
