ACTIVE Cumbria and Carlisle City Council are encouraging the public to choose cycling over public transport as the Government relaxes lockdown restrictions.
In a social media post, Active Cumbria said: “As the nation returns to work, those who choose to commute by bike are avoiding buses and trains. The appeal is part of British Cycling’s Choose Cycling campaign which is encouraging the public to commute by bicycle rather than public transport."
The campaign looks to highlight the benefits of commuting by bike including fitness and maintaining social distancing.
Carlisle City Council said: “As we stay alert to control the virus and save lives, the government has advised that we use public transport only when necessary so this is the perfect time to Choose Cycling.”
