A FELL runner was airlifted to hospital after becoming unwell during a race.
The incident happened on August 1 near the Honister mine car park, at Honister Pass, during the Borrowdale Fell Race.
Two members of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team, who were already at the event, responded immediately.
A spokesperson for the team said: "As the casualty had a suspected heart-related medical condition, Helimed 08 also attended.
"After checks by the various medics the man was airlifted to hospital for further assessment and treatment."
The call-out lasted two hours and 24 minutes.
