The affected stretch on the U4263 Central Avenue runs from the junction with Meadow View and extends in a south-easterly direction for approximately 60 metres.
The closure order, issued by Cumberland Council, is set to come into force on July 7, with the works expected to last three days.
Under the plans, the closure will be in place between 8am and 6pm each day to allow utility works to be carried out.
Officials say access will be maintained for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists throughout the duration of the works.
An alternative route for vehicles will be available via unrestricted sections of Central Avenue, Nelson Square, and Bookwell/Grove Road.
