A roadside safety operation by Cumbria Police saw multiple arrests made last week, including two for positive drug driving.
Operation Colossus was carried out by Cumbria Police across Cleator Moor, South Whitehaven, and St Bees on Friday, June 12.
Officers stopped vehicles and engaged with drivers to ensure compliance with road traffic laws and to raise awareness about safe and responsible driving.
Sergeant Lindsay Stuart said: "Operations like Op Colossus are about making our roads safer for everyone.
"By being visible in our communities and carrying out these checks, we can deal with those who choose to break the law while also reassuring the vast majority of drivers who do the right thing."
The operation focused on identifying issues that pose risks to road users.
These included driving without insurance, vehicle defects, using vehicles in a dangerous or unroadworthy condition, and drug and alcohol-related driving offences.
One individual was arrested for failing to provide documents and driving without insurance.
Two drivers were also arrested for positive drug driving.
Two others took breath tests, which both returned negative results.
In addition to enforcement, officers used the opportunity to engage with motorists and provide advice on road safety.
Sergeant Lindsay Stuart said: "We’d ask anyone using our roads to make sure their vehicle is roadworthy and that they’re driving safely and responsibly at all times.
"Our work will continue across the area to help reduce risk and keep people safe."
The operation forms part of Cumbria Police’s ongoing efforts to keep roads safe across the county.
