Cumberland Council has announced a temporary traffic regulation order affecting Wasdale Road, Gosforth.
Under the plans, the road will be closed from its junction with U4551 Walkmill Gardens, extending southwest for approximately 80 metres.
The closure is scheduled for May 29, between 8am and 6pm, and is expected to last for just one day.
Officials say pedestrian access and access for dismounted cyclists will be maintained throughout the works.
The council says a signed diversion will be in place for vehicles, directing traffic via unrestricted sections of C4018 Wasdale Road, Legate Brow, Lane Side, C4019, C4025 Nether Wasdale to Santon Bridge, and C4026 Whitecroft.
