A road in the West Cumbrian town of Cleator Moor is due to be temporarily shut for utility works this month.

Cumberland Council has announced the scheduled closure of Hopedean, a cul-de-sac off Mill Hill, for two days.

The order is set to come into effect on May 26, with the closure in effect from 9:30am to 3:30pm each day for the full length of the road.

The council said that the closure is necessary to allow utility works to be carried out.

Officials say there is no suitable alternative route for vehicles, but pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will still have access.

It will only be in place when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

For more information, residents can contact the highways department on 0300 373 3736, quoting reference TTROC/18145.
