Paint-making experts are set to show how to turn iron ore into paint at at workshop this month.
A former iron ore mine is now the setting for a hands-on introduction to traditional paint-making.
Florence Paint-makers, based at the Florence Arts Centre in Egremont, is offering demonstrations and group workshops showcasing the process of turning haematite into high-quality artist materials.
Nikki and Dave, part of the centre's paint-making team, guide visitors through the transformation of iron ore into the centre’s signature Egremont Red pigment during the live demonstration.
Florence Arts Centre described the event as: "a lovely interesting way to spend an afternoon.
"We will talk you through the method of processing rocks into earth pigments and the different techniques we use to create our watercolour paints and chalk pastels.
"There will be time for questions at the end."
Guests can try the paint-making process, ask questions, and explore the wider arts centre.
Group bookings can also be made for a one-hour hands-on pigment and paint-making workshop, tailored for six to ten adults.
For £12 per person, groups will learn about the full journey from raw mineral to finished art materials and have a go at making pastels.
The session on May 23 runs from 12-12:30pm with tickets priced at £6 per person.
