Under the plans, Hopedean, a cul-de-sac off Mill Hill, will close for utility works on May 26.
Officials say there will be no alternative route for vehicles, but pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will still be able to pass.
Cumberland Council expects the closure to last two days, from 9.30am to 3.30pm each day.
An official council order allows for the closure to be in place for a maximum of 18 months, but the closure is only expected to be in place as detailed above.
Signs will be in place to indicate the closure.
