Two businesses are entering a new phase with plans to extend their offerings to those with a sweet tooth.
Angry Boba and Sakura Ramen on King Street, Whitehaven have become popular destinations for those seeking a bubble tea treat or ice cream over the past three years.
But now the businesses have been taken over by Kinga Kovacs, owner of WaterLily Cake House, who plans to continue the businesses while expanding the menu to include her signature cakes, pastries and nationally recognised macarons.
Kinga and her family moved to the area in 2023, bringing with her a passion for quality food and hospitality.
Since founding WaterLily Cake House in 2017, she has built a strong reputation for her bespoke patisserie.
Customers across the UK continue to order her macarons for home delivery.
Angry Boba and Sakura Ramen began as part of the King's Corner Activity House Home School project, giving young people hands-on experience in running a business.
The project was first developed three years ago by Whitehaven local Lina, then 16, who is set to pursue engineering at university.
With her studies set to begin, she started the search for a suitable successor and was delighted that Kinga was keen to take on the challenge of continuing and developing the businesses.
Lina will support Kinga during the transition until she begins university.
The businesses will maintain their partnership with King's Corner Activity House, which offers escape room experiences.
Plans are in place to combine escape sessions with catering packages for birthdays and family events.
These will feature WaterLily Cake House pastries and cakes, Angry Boba drinks, and Sakura Ramen’s soups, bao buns and mochi.
Kinga’s products are now available at the shop at 71 King Street.
The existing range of Angry Boba shakes and the popular Blue Magic Ice Cream remain on offer.
Customers are encouraged to visit the shop to experience her patisserie in person.
Bespoke birthday cake orders can be placed in-store, with a portfolio of previous designs available to browse.
Products can also be ordered for home delivery through Just Eat and Uber Eats.
