A railway museum in Cumbria is inviting families to get creative this Easter with a hands-on egg decorating activity.
The Ravenglass Railway Museum will host Easter-themed crafts on Monday, March 30, and Wednesday, April 1, with visitors invited to decorate and take home a wooden Easter egg.
The eggs have been made and donated by members of the West Cumbria Woodturners.
Claire Winter-Moore from the Ravenglass Railway Museum said: "We're excited, or should that be ‘egg-cited’, to offer this activity thanks to our volunteers who are giving up their time to staff the egg station and are very grateful to West Cumbria Woodturners for making the eggs for us.
"It’s lovely to offer such a tactile activity, made from natural materials.
"I’m sure visitors of all ages will enjoy creating their own designs."
The sessions will run from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm on both days.
No booking is required, though a minimum donation of £2 per egg is requested.
West Cumbria Woodturners, based in Dearham, meet on the third Saturday of each month and welcome new members.
The following week, on April 8 and 9, the museum will again join with the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway and Chris Vine, author of the Peter’s Railway books, to deliver 'Little Engineer' days.
This event is designed for children aged five and over and requires all children to be accompanied by an adult.
A hands-on exploration of rail engineering is included, with families visiting the railway’s engineering workshop to learn how a steam engine works.
Children can also try operating the levers in the signal box and enjoy a train trip up the sidings.
The fun continues at the museum in the afternoon with some toy railway fun with an Easter twist, followed by story time.
