A West Cumbrian charity has been selected for a UK-wide programme that aims to support organisations tackling health inequalities.
The Windmill Trust is one of just 10 organisations chosen to join the 2026 GSK Community Health Programme, being delivered in partnership with The King’s Fund.
The scheme is designed to offer funding and leadership development for charities making a difference in community health.
Phillippa Chapman, chief executive of The Windmill Trust, said: "Being selected for the GSK Community Health Programme is an honour and a real acknowledgment of the challenges faced by children and young people in West Cumbria.
"This funding helps strengthen what we already do – it allows us to continue offering high-quality, relationship-based therapeutic support in a region where the need is significant.
"It’s not about growing or taking on more referrals, but about ensuring the work we already do remains sustainable, safe, and impactful."
The Windmill Trust provides creative, therapeutic support for children and young people deemed at risk of long-term mental health challenges.
A parent who has accessed the charity’s services said: "The Windmill Trust has really helped my son with his anxiety and confidence.
"He loves attending the sessions."
