The Met Office has forecast heavy rain for Whitehaven on Friday morning.

Heavy showers are expected to persist until 11am, with temperatures climbing gradually from 4°C to 6°C.

The bleak start to the day will give way by midday, as the rain clears to mostly cloudy skies with some sunny breaks, and temperatures reaching their peak at 7°C by 2pm.

According to the Met Office, the chance of rain is expected to plummet to just 10 per cent by 4pm.

The rest of Friday is set to be dry but overcast, with temperatures dipping to a mild 6°C by the evening.

By nightfall, the skies will remain mostly cloudy, with a 10 per cent chance of rain, and the mercury hovering around 5°C.

Looking ahead to Saturday, the cloud cover is set to persist throughout the day, but rain is not likely, with chances remaining low at about 30 to 40 per cent in the morning and 20 to 30 per cent in the afternoon.

Morning temperatures are expected to rise from 6°C to 8°C by lunchtime, peaking in the afternoon at around 9°C.

The evening temperatures will be slightly milder, remaining steady at 7°C.

The cloud cover continues into the night with a steady temperature of 6°C.

The forecast for Sunday, February 1, indicates a similar pattern to start, with the day kicking off cloudy and a low 20 to 30 per cent chance of rain.

Temperatures will climb from 6°C to 8°C by midday.

More cheerfully, the afternoon is set to feature bright spells and sunny intervals, with a continued dry scene at 8°C.

The cloud is expected to return by evening, accompanied by light winds and slightly cooler temperatures at 6°C.

At night, there will be more clouds with a low 10 to 20 per cent chance of rainfall, and a temperature of approximately 5°C.
