The Met Office is forecasting a mix of sunshine and rain for Whitehaven this weekend.

Friday, January 23, will begin with a partly cloudy morning, offering some sunshine before turning cloudy with rain from mid-afternoon.

Temperatures will range from highs of 9°C to lows of 5°C.

In the morning, between 5am and 12pm, the cloudy skies will clear, making way for sunny intervals with temperatures between 6°C and 8°C, and a very low chance of rain at less than 10 per cent.

The afternoon, from 12pm onwards, will be cloudy, with scattered showers occurring from 2pm and an increased rain chance of 60 per cent.

Temperatures will peak at 9°C.

Into the evening, light rain will continue but will ease off later, with temperatures dropping to 7°C.

As the night progresses, it will be dry and mostly cloudy, with temperatures stabilising around 6°C to 7°C.

By Saturday, the weather will be mostly dry and bright, with partly cloudy conditions and sunny intervals throughout the day.

The day will see temperatures mirroring Friday's forecast, with highs and lows predicted at 9°C and 5°C, respectively.

Expect a bright morning with sunny intervals and temperatures from 6°C to 8°C.

The chance of rain will be low, staying under 20 per cent.

In the afternoon, the sunny spells will continue, and temperatures will peak at 9°C.

By the evening, there will be an increase in cloud cover but no rain is expected, with temperatures hovering around 7°C.

As Saturday night comes in, the sky will be mostly cloudy with a slight 30 per cent chance of rain, and temperatures will stay around 6°C.

Come Sunday, the skies will be overcast with some light rain, more likely in the late afternoon.

Sunday will see temperatures dropping, with highs of 8°C and lows of a chilly 2°C.

The overcast skies will linger from the morning with a 30 to 40 per cent chance of light rain.

The maximum temperature of the day is predicted to be 8°C.

As the day progresses into the evening, patchy rain will persist with temperatures around 6°C.

By night, persistent light drizzle is possible, and temperatures will be around 5°C.
