NEW bus routes are set to launch, improving connectivity across the region.
Cumberland Council announced the expansion as part of the third phase of its Cumberland Go bus network, developed in partnership with Stagecoach and Reays.
The routes will go live on Monday, January 5, and aim to improve access to key destinations.
Cllr Denise Rollo, executive member for sustainable, resilient, and connected places at Cumberland Council, said: "January marks another milestone in Cumberland Council’s commitment to revitalising our region.
"These new routes reconnect vital services from hospitals to Hadrian’s Wall - helping residents access work, education, healthcare, and leisure with ease.
"The success of Cumberland Go depends on operator reliability and strong community uptake.
"We’re incredibly grateful to our transport teams, partner operators, and most importantly, the public, for engaging with us and making these services possible."
Key routes include the number 600, which will run between Carlisle, Cumberland Infirmary, Cockermouth, Whitehaven, and West Cumberland Hospital.
Additional services will connect tourists and residents to Hadrian’s Wall, and provide new links to South Carlisle Health Centre, Wigton, and Anthorn.
In November and December 2025, earlier phases of the rollout introduced additional services between Maryport, Dearham, Cockermouth, Barrow, and other areas.
