The Met Office has forecast a varied weekend of weather for Whitehaven.
On Friday, December 19, it will start cloudy, shifting to brighter spells by late morning, before the cloud cover returns in the evening.
Temperatures will reach a high of 10°C and drop to a low of 6°C.
In the morning, cloud cover will gradually decrease between 5am and 11am, with rain chances falling from 40 per cent to 10 per cent.
Afternoon temperatures will peak at 10°C under sunny intervals, with less than 5 per cent chance of rain.
However, the weather will turn cloudy again in the evening, and there will be an increased likelihood of rain, rising to between 30 per cent and 50 per cent.
On Saturday, December 20, the day will start dry with sunny spells developing by late morning, but light rain is expected to follow later.
The day’s temperatures will fluctuate between a high of 9°C and a low of 6°C.
Morning weather will remain mostly dry, with low rain chances (10 per cent to 20 per cent), making it the optimal time for any errands or outdoor activities.
However, the afternoon will see increasing cloud cover with a 50 per cent to 60 per cent likelihood of rain.
The evening, too, will remain overcast with continued slight rain (50 per cent to 60 per cent).
Finally, Sunday, December 21, will be mostly cloudy throughout the day.
Temperatures will sit between a high of 10°C and a low of 7°C.
The morning and afternoon will see stable weather with a 20 per cent to 30 per cent chance of rain and temperatures around 9°C.
The evening will see no significant change in weather.
UV levels are low throughout, and pollution is low on Friday and Saturday.
Sunrise will occur around 8.35am on Saturday and again on Sunday, while sunset will be observed at 3.50pm.
If you intend to spend a lot of time outdoors on Friday, the middle of the day appears to be optimal, however, it may be wise to carry a light jacket or umbrella if you plan to be out late.
On Saturday, the best time for outdoor activities should be early morning, but rain protection is recommended for the afternoon and evening.
A calm yet cloudy Sunday makes it ideal for indoor activities or short walks.
