Two Hospice at Home West Cumbria volunteers enjoyed an evening of carols at Westminster Abbey.
Gill Aitcheson and Claire Graham attended the service on December 5, after receiving an invitation from the Prince and Princess of Wales in recognition of their work with the hospice charity.
Ms Aitcheson said: "Claire and I were very honoured to be chosen to attend.
"It was a truly magical occasion and a wonderful warm atmosphere pervaded.
"From the cheerful security team, friendly helpful stewards, welcoming mince pies, and a paper chain to complete with names of those we love that were hung on a large Christmas tree.
"The Abbey was beautifully decorated and the service was perfect, a very special event from which we have lovely memories."
The Westminster Abbey Christmas Carol Service is an annual event that honours individuals across the UK who have gone above and beyond to support others.
The 2025 service welcomed 1,600 guests and featured readings and performances themed around love, compassion, and connection.
Ms Aitcheson and Ms Graham, both former members of the hospice’s home nursing team and current volunteers, attended the service with their partners.
The evening included contributions from actors Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor, with a Bible reading delivered by Prince William.

"We are deeply honoured to be included in such a meaningful occasion.
"I would like to say a special thank you to Gill and Claire who attended on our behalf.
"Their presence reflects the dedication, compassion and values that define our charity, and I am grateful for how they continue to represent us with such pride."
The royal family has supported Hospice at Home West Cumbria for many years, with King Charles III serving as patron since 1997.
The charity provides end-of-life care and support to people and their families across west Cumbria, enabling individuals to remain at home during their final days.
