Dear Editor,

Many years ago, I played the bagpipes with the Dumfries Royal British Legion Pipe Band.

Looking through some old photographs recently, I came across this picture.

I remember the band travelled to a number of towns in the North West of England, including Silloth, Workington, and Whitehaven, but I can't remember much, if any, of the details.

I have an idea in my mind that this photograph might was taken in Whitehaven in the early 1970s, but can't be sure.

I wonder if any of your readers recognise anything about the picture.

I would be interested to know if anyone knows where the photograph was taken, and if it can be dated.

There are a number of people on the pavement, so might this have been part of some particular event?

If any of your readers has any information I would be delighted to hear from them.

I can be contacted by email: stephen_beattie@yahoo.co.uk.
