A WEST Cumbrian charity has donated money to a cause which supports children over the summer holidays.
The Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children's Fund has donated £600 to the Greenbank Community Summer Playscheme.
The initiative helps children and young people on the Greenbank estate in Whitehaven keep occupied over the summer holidays.
Mark Andrews, a trustee with the charity, said: "A lady called Anne Maudling runs a playscheme every summer for the children at Greenbank.
"We always donate money to help with the stuff that they do up there, so we went up and presented a cheque of £600 to her.
"They're always on the lookout for money to be donated towards it because it keeps the children off the streets during the summer holidays.
"They are always over the moon with our donation."
The Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children's Fund meets up annually in October and does a fundraising weekend.
The charity hands out around four or five donations each year.
