An exhibition documenting the lives of 40 Cumbrian farmers is to be hosted in Whitehaven.
The Beacon Museum in Whitehaven is hosting Forty Farms by Amy Bateman, a Cumbrian farmer and British Life Photographer of the Year.
The exhibition, which runs from July 5 until September 7, provides a look into farming across Cumbria and the Lake District with photography, film, and personal stories.
Councillor Anne Quilter, Cumberland Council’s executive member for vibrant and healthy places, said: "Farming is at the heart of Cumbria’s identity, shaping both our landscape and our way of life.
"We’re pleased to host Forty Farms at The Beacon Museum—an exhibition that not only showcases exceptional photography, but also gives voice to the real experiences of farmers across our county."
Ms Bateman started her project in 2020, capturing the Cumbrian farming landscape for a coffee table book.
Her work captures the 'diversity', 'resilience', and 'innovation' within the farming community, exploring a lifestyle faced with major changes.
The exhibition also includes insights from notable figures in food and farming.
