THERE were 150 crimes committed in Whitehaven in the latest month.
The police data analyses crime in the West Cumbrian town in November 2024.
The data shows a rise in crime in Whitehaven since the previous month in which 119 crimes were recorded.
There were 52 violent and sexual offences, 27 antisocial behaviour incidents, 23 incidents of criminal damage and arson, all other crimes made up 48 of the incidents.
Some of the other incidents included drugs, other theft, shoplifting, burglary, vehicle crime, bicycle theft, and possession of weapons.
There were 46 stop and searches in Whitehaven that month. 29 of which were for controlled drugs, nine for an article used in theft, four for fireworks, and four for other objects of search.
47 of the crimes are under investigation, 14 are awaiting an outcome from court, 36 of the cases were unable to prosecute the suspect, 22 of the crimes have had the investigation completed with no suspect identified, and for three of the crimes a local resolution was found, 27 of the crimes had an outcome labelled 'other', and for one of the crimes, further investigation was found not to be in the public interest.
