A TOWN mayor has announced he is stepping back from civic commitments due to 'health problems'.
An announcement was made on behalf of the mayor of Whitehaven, Graham Roberts, at Whitehaven Town Council’s latest meeting.
Marlene Jewell, town clerk, read a statement from Cllr Roberts to the meeting, which said: “I will be stepping back for a short while from my role as chairman and mayor of the council due to health problems.”
Chris Hayes, deputy mayor of Whitehaven, was then asked to assume the chair for the meeting. Cllr Hayes opened the meeting by wishing Cllr Roberts a speedy recovery.
