A contractor is needed to design and build a project within the Millom Town Deal programme.
The £10 million Ironline scheme will improve the sea wall and coastal lagoon off Millom's coast, creating a 7km walking and cycling route across RSPB Hodbarrow.
A welcome centre, including a café/bar, retail space, and multi-use events room, will also be constructed, with parking for about 80 vehicles.
David Savage, chair of the Millom Town Deal Board, said: "We are witnessing another big step forward with the Ironline Scheme as we encourage contractors to get involved and deliver this exciting project.
"Momentum is building across all the Town Deal projects, and we need to be mindful that each of the four projects will evolve at a different pace in line with its delivery schedule.
"Today, we are focusing on the Ironline as we start to transform plans into positive change for our community."
The Millom Town Deal secured £20.6 million in November 2022, with an additional £8.7 million in match funding to support the town and its communities.
The funds, in partnership with Cumberland Council, will be used to deliver four projects: The Ironline, Activating Community Health, Reactivating Heritage Buildings, and Connecting Millom and Haverigg.
The projects will improve 300,000 sqm of parks, greenspace, and outdoor space, and rehabilitate 150,000 sqm of land.
Eighty new car parking spaces will be created, alongside six new art installations, and 120 trees will be planted.
The Hodbarrow Beacon heritage building will also be restored.
The welcome building will create eight new jobs, with up to 26 jobs supported during the construction of the Ironline.
Contractors interested in the project can submit their information through Cumberland Council’s online procurement platform, The Chest, or contact the procurement team directly via email or post.
Responses must be submitted by 12pm on October 21.
