THE mysterious origin of a yacht that washed up on a Cumbrian beach has been solved.
In a social media post on Sunday, Millom Coastguard Rescue Team had announced that they were trying to locate the owner of the yacht Sable, which was found aground at Silecroft just after 9am.
"It looked like the vessel had dragged its anchors, but we ran out extra anchors to secure its location and prevent damage," they wrote.
"The vessel was checked for the owners phone number, but one could not be found."
They asked people with any information on the vessel or its owner to contact Holyhead Coastguard.
But the team has since posted on social media that the owner had been located and contacted... and the boat appears to have drifted from Anglesey, in north Wales.
A spokesperson from the coastguards thanked those who shared the appeal for information.
"If you own a yacht, we strongly urge you to display the owner's name and contact details in a window," they said.
