A MAN has admitted stalking a woman by going to her home numerous times and sending unwanted presents.

Andrew Burns, 32, admitted a charge of stalking without fear, alarm or distress, when he appeared before Workington Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Burns’ defence solicitor, Mike Woolaghan, said the offending was ‘innocuous’ and had involved sending ‘very pleasant’ messages, which expressed the defendant’s devotion to the woman.

He had also thrown stones at a window to attract her attention. The offending took place in Moor Row, between February and March this year.

The case was adjourned to allow a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the probation service.

Burns, of Ullswater Avenue, Whitehaven, will be sentenced on June 24. He was granted bail with conditions not to contact the victim by any means and not to go to an address in Moor Row.
