A MAN has raised over £700 for Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
Steve Sherwen, of Whitehaven, raised £770 for the hospice in memory of his mother.
He took on a cycling challenge that took him on a tough 100-mile plus trip around the Lake District.
A spokesperson said: "Thank you to Steve Sherwen who has raised a fantastic £770 in memory of his Mum Marilyn Sherwen.
"Steve took on the Fred Whitton challenge, which involved a 112-mile cycle around the Lake District, starting at Grasmere and tackling the climbs of Kirkstone, Honister, and Hardknott pass to name a few.
"Steve said that he chose to support Hospice at Home West Cumbria because 'they allowed my Mmum to stay at home and their nurses allowed my dad to be a husband rather than her carer. My family will be forever grateful for this'.
"Thank you Steve for your kind support."
