Notice has been given by a Cumbrian RAF base about an upcoming training exercise.

RAF Spadeadam, near to the border with Northumberland has notified local residents of an upcoming training exercise due to take place on April 16.

A spokesperson for RAF Spadeadam said: “For the attention of all our neighbours in Cumbria and Northumberland, the RAF Spadeadam range will be active for night flying 16 April 24.

“Aircraft will be training with us during the following hours - April 16 11:00am until 7:00pm.

“Please note that aircraft may continue to transit through the range after this time.

“We thank you for your understanding and your continuing support whilst we deliver this essential operational training."

RAF Spadeadam, the largest RAF base in the UK, encompasses a 9600-acre training range with additional outlying sites.

The facility boasts a dedicated danger area, permanent jamming areas, and air traffic management services, making it an ideal location for the event.
