TINY brides and grooms exchanged vows at two mock weddings to help youngsters learn about church celebrations.
Reception pupils at St Gregory & St Patrick’s Catholic Infant School in Whitehaven took part in the pretend ceremonies at St Begh’s Church.
The service helped support the children’s understanding of marriage. In preparation, children had been sharing their parents’ wedding photos and discussed all aspects of a wedding.
This followed a baptism that was carried out in church in a previous term.
Charlotte Gillies, reception lead, said: “The children enjoyed taking on different roles of bride, groom, best man, bridesmaid and father of the bride.
“Everyone else came to school dressed in their party clothes ready to attend the wedding as guests. We enjoyed a wedding photo shoot and making cards for the new bride and groom.”
