THIS week a coastguard team has been taking part in a water rescue exercise.
The Whitehaven Coastguard team was at the harbourside taking part in the training session.
A spokesperson said: "A break from rope rescue and search planning and execution this week, to undertaker water rescue at Whitehaven Marina. This is another of our core disciplines as your coastal emergency service.
"It was training for some, with requalification of operations for others on the team, conducted by our local full-time senior coastal operations officers.
"From rope rescue (cliff/structure/vessel access etc), water rescue, mud rescue, casualty evacuation, vessels in distress, lost and missing person searches, suspicious items (ordnance/pyrotechnics), royal fish (whales, sturgeons, porpoises, and dolphins), then we’ve got you covered should you need us."
