THIS year Whitehaven Town Council has organised a charity fire walk.

The event will take place at 5.30pm on Tuesday, February 20 in St Nicholas' Gardens.

Members of the public are being encouraged to take part to raise money for a cause of their choice.

Some town officials are hoping to take part in the event.

Gerard Richardson, who helped to organise the event, said: "We've had the idea to do a fire walk and we're inviting up to 100 people to do it to raise money for charity.

"It's a great way for the community to come together on a cold Tuesday evening in February and enjoy the spectacle.

"People can get photographs with their friends and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate whilst raising money for charity.

"It's a good way for the town council to bring people back into the town centre and remind people that it's still there.

"Anyone who wants to take part can contact the clerk at clerk@whitehaventowncouncil.co.uk, they'll need to know your name, address, and contact number and what national charity it is that you're raising money for.

"People can do it by printing off sponsor forms or setting up GoFundMe pages with the help of the charity."
