NOSTALGIA, the latest book by businesspeople Louise Savage and Gerard Richardson, has proved to be the most successful of the books Gerard has released.

Since 2010 Gerard has released six books that mostly focus on the history of Whitehaven, giving a glimpse into the past through old photographs.

The book is on course to sell out completely by Christmas.

Using photos from Ivor Nicholas' archive and a few supplied by the Beacon and Ronnie Calvin, the book has proven to be the in-demand Christmas present in Richardson's of Whitehaven this year.

Louise Savage: "Gerard and I are delighted with the response; honestly, it’s quite humbling. We never thought we would get this chance to write one together and it turns out our first one is the most popular release since Gerard started the series of books in 2010.

"So we find ourselves in the fabulous position of looking at a reprint as early as January.

"I guess we all know it has been an awful year of news and I think the title Nostalgia, just plucked at people's hearts, and it's lovely to think of all the people who will be enjoying it on Christmas Day, perhaps with a nice glass from the shop as well."
