THE New Year's Eve Charity Dip is back in Whitehaven this December 31 at 11am, this years event will mark the 25th anniversary.

With the RNLI and Coastguards in attendance, this year's event is open to anyone aged 14 and above, with donations to official collection buckets encouraged for both charities.

Organisers, John O'Brian and his sister Hazel Block highlighted that: "All dippers enter the water at their own risk, no disclaimers."

Fancy dress is optional and a prize will be offered for the best costume.

While changing facilities are available at The Royal Standard Pub on the harbour, participants are urged not to store gear there due to lack of space, and to only enter the pub via the back entrance.

Participants should gather at The Hub at 10.25am for a 15-minute fun warm-up with Tina Spedding, ahead of a 10.40am march to Golden Sands for the 11am dipstart.

A reminder was issued: "No wet dippers in pub after the Dip, please get changed first."

Hot drinks will be available for dry participants at The Royal Standard after the dip, with free car parking from 9.30am to 12 noon at Quay Street South and at the Beacon Museum, courtesy of the Harbour Commissioners and Copeland Council respectively.

All Cars must display a notice saying they are attending the dip
