A CUMBERLAND councillor has helped to set up a residents group to improve an area of Whitehaven.
Joseph Ghayouba of Bransty is working alongside other people on the estate intending to make it a better place to live for all.
The Bransty Residents Group has been set up and so far they have involved themselves with some initiatives to help people and make Bransty the best it can be.
Over the weekend Joseph and other members of the group took part in a litter pick to clear up the estate.
Mr Ghayouba said: ""When I sought election it was clear from the 100s of people I spoke to on the doorstep in Bransty they wanted to see the estate being improved.
"We have since set up a residents group as an endeavor to help to do this. We meet every month where we discuss ideas and things we'd like to see done on the estate.
"So far we have raised money for a kids' Christmas Party and organised a litter pick which will occur every month. There will be other activities on the horizon so if anyone is interested please get in touch."
