SHEPLEY Engineers subsidiary West Cumberland Engineering (WCEL) has acquired nuclear fabrication specialist T.I.S. Cumbria Limited.
The acquisition completed on October 27, solidifies the Shepley Groups current growth plans.
Founded in September 1995 by Tony O’Pray, TIS will now operate within WCEL, resulting in a doubled workshop capacity and increased crane capability. The acquisition guarantees the future of hundreds of employees and the continuation of WCEL's role in the nuclear industry.
It also enables an expansion in its capacity for new and existing clients, supporting nuclear decommissioning, nuclear new build and SMR’s.
Gavin Jakubowski, Shepley Group managing director, said: “The Shepley Group has been providing crucial support for the nuclear industry for over 75 years and by bringing TIS into the Group, we are futureproofing our business and accelerating its growth."
Former TIS Managing Director, Tony O'Pray, assured that this will usher in "an exciting new chapter for the workforce."
