A fun family tribute festival in Whitehaven proved a big success.

Bee Fest, at Whitehaven RLFC, was organised by Bee Unique, a busy charity which supports families with autistic children.

The charity is the vision of Nadia Shaw and Dave Parsons, of Flimby - parents and carers to two non-verbal boys.

"It was a relaxing event where there was plenty of space for children to run round and not feel overwhelmed," said Nadia.

"Although it was a little muddy and wet, we all had a wonderful day with live music and lots of fun activities and entertainment provided for the children."

There were live tribute performances from: Ellie Goulding, Paloma Faith, Legends of Rock (Meat Loaf, U2, Bon Jovi, Queen, Bryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen and Aerosmith, Jameson Covers, HFB and Oasis.

"We also had fantastic local performers who kept everyone entertained on the day." said Nadia.

"We would like to thank all the sponsors who supported us with the acts, barriers and marquees."

The Bee Unique events are run by a hard-working team of volunteers.

"They dedicate their free time to help us set up, run the day and pack everything up," said Nadia.

"A lot of planning and work goes into these events and we can't thank you them all enough. We couldn't do this without them."
