A GREETINGS card depicting a town’s unique annual fair has been designed by a primary school pupil who won a competition.
Les Coan of Egremont Crab Fair committee tasked children with designing a card themed on the centuries-old event, which made a welcome return this year following a three-year hiatus.
A total of 45 entries were received from youngsters who were invited to take part from Beckermet C of E Primary School, Thornhill Primary School, Orgill Primary School, St Bridget’s Catholic Primary School, Bookwell Primary School and Egremont Youth Trust.
Tyler Blackburn, a pupil at Bookwell Primary School in Egremont, was named the winner for the junior school aged children after the competition was judged by an independent local artist.
This took place at Egremont Florence Mine, where a display was mounted to show a selection of the entries.
The winning design has been printed professionally and greeting cards are now on sale. Proceeds will go to the Egremont Crab Fair committee to help fund future events.
The cost is £1.50 each, four for £5 or 10 for £14.00. Please phone (01946) 841330 for further details.
