Cumberland Council joined housing developers at the unveiling of a new show home, part of a new estate.

The house, at the Saltom Bay Heights housing development in Whitheaven, was unveiled on October 5, 2023.

Cumberland Council introduced four discounted sale properties within the Saltom Bay Heights development.

A spokesperson from Cumberland Council said: “With discounts of up to 20 per cent off the market value, this scheme aims to provide affordable housing options that cater to the diverse needs of the community and make homeownership more attainable for local residents.

“To qualify for affordable housing, applicants must demonstrate a housing need, show an inability to purchase the property at its market value and have a connection to the area. Household size can also influence priority.”

Properties for sale through the discount scheme include two two-bed bungalows and two two-bed semi-detached houses.

The bungalows are for sale for £175,996 and the semis are £130,396.

Councillor Emma Williamson, Cumberland Council executive member for children, family wellbeing, and housing, said: “We take pride in creating opportunities for individuals and families to achieve their homeownership goals while enhancing the overall quality of life in our region.

“Saltom Bay Heights stands as evidence of our dedication to making housing accessible and affordable. The properties offered through the Discounted Sale scheme within this development provide an unmissable opportunity for eligible individuals to achieve homeownership.”
