A NEW pumpkin patch is set to bring lots of family fun and Instagram-worthy snaps when it opens this autumn.

Stephney Farm in Seascale will host a pumpkin patch for the first time this year after farmers Kate Perna and Ian Knight saw the opportunity to diversify.

Miss Perna, who is also a teacher at the Whitehaven Academy, said: “We decided to open a pumpkin patch this year as we have two young children and have had to travel quite a distance to go to other similar seasonal events.

“With other current changes in farming we are always looking for opportunities to diversify and this seemed like something that fits in with our current farming year and my full time teaching career.

"We hope to bring lots of family fun and enjoyment to the local community.”

Pumpkin sessions will run on weekends in October and throughout the half term week (October 7-8, 14-15, 21-29) There will be two sessions per day 10am-12pm and 1pm - 3pm.

Pumpkins of all shapes and sizes will be available to purchase. As well as pumpkins, there will be a variety of other all-weather activities including an area set aside for toddlers, some crafts and colouring for older children and plenty of props and backdrops to get some Instagram-worthy photos.

Refreshments will be available with sweet treats from local businesses and a pizza van. Guests will also be able to meet farm animals, have their faces painted and spend some pocket money on Halloween themed toys in the gift shop.
