Lowes Court Art Gallery in Egremont has announced its featured artists for September.

Featuring for September are artworks by Theresa Beaumont and Nanette Madan.

This is the first time that these two talented and very individual artists have exhibited together.

Although they had never even met before being invited to feature at Lowes Court, they found that they shared mutual sympathies in both art and life.

A spokesperson said: "Theresa spent her early years in Cumbria and trained in teaching at Charlotte Mason College of Education. She went on to spend many years in the United States, largely in New Mexico, teaching, making, and studying art and developing an appreciation of spiritual awareness.

"She has studied and apprenticed in the traditional Sacred Arts, including Tibetan Buddhist Iconographic Art, Japanese Brushwork, and Russian Iconography.

"On her return to live on the Cumbrian Coast, Theresa found that a sense of ‘Sacred Space’ is very important to her, and this is reflected in her paintings of sea, sky, and light all coupled into almost abstract pieces of art.

"Nanette has had a nomadic existence following her upbringing in rural Sweden, where her lifelong obsession with nature began. Events led her to Singapore where she studied under contemporary artist Mr. Teo Eng Seng who taught her how to communicate her observations in a visual form, focussing on the message behind the work."

There will be a ‘Meet the Artists’ morning for coffee and chat on Saturday, September 2 at the gallery, from 10.30 to 1.30, at which the artists will be glad to talk about their work and explain more about their underlying inspirations, philosophies, and approach to making their own unique styles of art.

Cards of work by both Theresa and Nanette are also available, and the feature wall is on view until Saturday, September 30.
