Whitehaven Rugby League had an amazing win over the weekend, defeating Sheffield Eagles 32-20.
This ends the side's losing streak after not having a win for four games, they are delighted with the result and are hoping it will keep them safe as the season progresses.
Head coach, Jonty Gorley, said: "That was probably our best performance for quite a while, apart from the first bit of the match when we were 14-0 down after 20 minutes.
"We started the game like we started last week and were behind the sticks in the first minute.
"At 14-0 up we needed to score next because if we didn't anything could have happened, but it just shows the character these lads have got.
"They're a great bunch of lads and work hard for each other, that's the frustrating thing because it just shows what we can do if they put their mind to it.
"Sheffield is a real good side and we put the double over them beating them home and away, I don't think anyone else has done that yet, they play Featherstone this week, so I'd imagine they'll do that.
"But we're the only side the play at Sheffield this season and beat them, so to do what we did yesterday after being 14-0 down shows a lot of resistance and desire.
"We talked at halftime about the three tries they got in the first 20 minutes all came from our mistakes.
"We drifted in field position and possession and they're one of the best teams in the competition so when they're camped in your 20 or 30, they're going to score tries.
"We talked about doing that less in the second half because we will score points if we get in the right area of the field.
"That's what happened we cut out a few of our errors and went set for set and we scored some really good tries, so it was a brilliant win for us and a brilliant performance.
"It's another two points that get us a little bit closer to safety."
