Cumberland Council is set to host its annual Health and Wellbeing festival in Cumbria this Friday, in what promises to be a fun and free day out for the whole family.
Everyone is encouraged to visit the Recreation Ground in Whitehaven from 10 am until 3 pm on Friday, August 4, and enjoy an exciting array of activities and entertainment, as well as vital well-being services.
Crowds will be wowed by the magician, acrobats and dance academy that will be on show in Whitehaven, while kids can keep themselves active on the climbing wall, bouncy castle and colour run.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service will also be present alongside other health and wellbeing support providers to offer advice on issues such as loneliness, housing and financial hardship.
Cllr Lisa Brown, Executive Member for Governance and Thriving Communities said: "Cumberland Council is passionate about creating healthy communities.
"Our social prescribing team works incredibly hard, year-round, to support our residents with a range of issues to improve their health and wellbeing and our festival gives us the opportunity to reach people in a fun, friendly, environment.
"The summer holidays can be expensive, and we’d urge people to join us for a fun and free day out."
The event is sponsored by the Box Encapsulation Plant (BEP), Sellafield, project. Other funders and partners include Rosehill Theatre, Copeland Community Fund, Well Whitehaven, and Copeland Wellness Service.
Catherine Melvin, Project Wellbeing Advisor at BEP, said: "The health and wellbeing of our people is at the heart of our wellbeing strategy.
"Our people are our greatest asset, and we recognise that a healthy, happy, and committed workforce is vital to our project success.
"Having the opportunity to work in partnership with the council for a second year helps us harness our combined strengths and bring robust support to our workforce and the wider community.
"We look forward to the festival's continued success."
