This Friday is the latest traders' market and the second to last one of the summer.

Tabletops of gazebo space are free to traders if they are Cumbrian based and there is still space left for this one if there are any small traders out there.

Gerard Richardson, who helps to organise the markets, said: "It’s a great way to test your business theory on a mid-weekday, and in fact, that's an essential test for any business.

"To be honest, it's easy to trade on a Saturday which is still the traditional day off for most people, but you can't run a shop or business on one day of the week, so this is a cracking test.

"We have cheese, smoked meats and fish, and a wide range of crafts, so as usual there’s something there for everyone.

"The next market after this is the last Friday of August and then the last of the year is December 8, when we will also have our now annual fireworks display.

"If any traders want to attend any of the markets, please contact me or email the clerks of Whitehaven Town Council on clerk@whitehaventowncouncil.co.uk."
