THE owners of the historic Moresby Hall, near Whitehaven, have announced their retirement.

David and Jane Saxon, have agreed a sale and will depart the place that has been their home and business for the last 24 years, at the beginning of August.

The Grade I listed manor has operated as a welcoming country guest house since 1999, offering gold star accommodation, fine dining, conference facilities and a beautiful wedding venue to many.

The Saxons now look forward to a less demanding pace as they leave Whitehaven to return to their family roots in the Fylde area of Lancashire, and to continue their other business interests in the North West.

Jane said: “It has been a busy and fulfilling life for David and I, building up a successful business and sharing our home with some lovely guests and good friends here in West Cumbria.

"We especially want to thank our dedicated staff who have given so much towards our success here.  We are delighted that they can continue their roles at Moresby Hall.

"We also send every good wish to the new owners and their existing team.”

The new business will operate under the ownership of the people who formerly ran Summergrove as Moresby Hall Country House Hotel Ltd.
