Rugby fans from around our community have banded together to show support for the club they love.

Fans of Whitehaven RL have been donating to a GoFundMe page in hopes of raising enough money to keep the club afloat.

Denis McKeown is organising a fundraising appeal on behalf of Dennis Bullock.

The aim is to raise £12,000 to help the club through its current financial difficulty.

So far, they have raised over £7,000 and counting as it garners a lot of interest.

Mr Mc Keown said: "I am a fellow supporter of Whitehaven RLFC, and I am very aware as we all are, of the club's well-documented cash flow problems we have and are experiencing this season, mainly caused by the massive reduction in RFL funding and the fixture list so far giving us more away games (including France) than home games.

"I have set up this fund in the hope that we Haven supporters and fans can raise some much-needed funds to give the club a little bit of breathing space and take a bit of pressure off our small but very hard-working BOD.

"I know times are hard for everyone at the moment so any donations made would be really appreciated."

Rugby enthusiasts from all over the country have chipped in to help Whitehaven in this time of trouble.

With fans from rivals like Bradford Bulls and Super League teams like Wigan Warriors offering their support for the club.

Norman Dennis said: "As a Warrior, we're all part of the RL family."

Peter Nowell said: "I support all RLFC but am a fan of York Knights."

Gary Cunningham said: "Cumbria needs its Rugby League and Rugby League needs Cumbria."

Andrew Earnshaw said: "Keep up the good work, Bradford Bulls fan."

Denis Mc Keown added: "Once again the Haven traveling fans have gone over and above and £200 was raised on the away bus to Newcastle yesterday.

"Once again I would like to thank you all for such a generous effort and another great bus trip with the best company anyone could wish for, just a shame the boys couldn't get us a much-needed win on the field."
