Whitehaven RL has lifted the club's spirit this week by getting another great win after what was a difficult defeat over the weekend.
The club is delighted with their 26-24 victory over York City Knights on Wednesday evening.
This Sunday, July 2, Whitehaven will play their third match of the week, this time against Featherstone Rovers.
Head coach Jonty Gorley said: "I just think that after Sunday's result and how we performed the lads just showed what character they've got when they apply themselves right with their attitude and skill.
"We were 10-0 down last night against a good York side and we came back at got two big points.
"I can't speak highly enough of these players, we were down to 17 men last night, and there were players on the pitch who were injured because the RFL has given us three games in eight days so they were back at it again three days after playing which is absolutely ridiculous because the Super League have a minimum turnaround of five days.
"So we've gone in three days later and put on a performance like that and it just shows the true character, the togetherness and willingness to with one another that this group's got.
"At 10-0, they could have easily said 'It's one of them nights' but no they carried on.
"That's what keeps me going, this group of lads and what they've got in their locker at times, when they do stuff like that you've got to admire what they do.
"To get two points against a really strong York outfit which was probably their strongest side minus one who didn't play, so to do what they did against a good team, on a nice night with a good crowd it was pleasing to see and they got their just reward at the end with two points.
"Leading up to the Keighley game last week I tried to tell them not to take the team lightly, they're a bit of a wounded dog at the moment and as we proved against Sheffield away, anything can happen when you go with the right attitude."
