Volunteers at the Community Centre at Red Lonning in Whitehaven have been working on developing the gardens.
Their efforts have progressed significantly and they have entered into Cumbria in Bloom.
Allan Forster, a volunteer, said: "Over the last couple of weeks we've been concentrating on the garden and entered into Cumbria in Bloom.
"The volunteers have been getting on with planting vegetables and flowers, a tremendous job has been done at clearing it up, painting the walls, installing planters and it is looking one hundred percent better now.
"We're looking for people who want to come along and help on Sundays at 2pm.
"It's going really well, we've got numerous groups going on."
