OVER the years Whitehaven has played host to festivals, concerts and other events which have brought a smorgasbord of celebrities to the town.
Notably, the Maritime Festival saw concerts from high-profile musical talents like Madness, N Dubz and McFly.
One shop in Whitehaven, Richardson's, has also had its fair share of celebrity customers.
The store sells wine, spirits, and other products and has become a favorite of some celebrity clients.
Gerard Richardson, who owns the shop, said that renowned chef Ken Hom was a customer for a long time, as was former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
"Ken has been a customer with us, we met him at a show in Manchester and he started buying wines from us and would phone us regularly." He said.
Gerard mentioned that another visitor to the shop was Louis Walsh who was in attendance at the Maritime Festivals also.
He continued: "In Ken's wine cellar in France he has wines that were bought from us in Whitehaven - which is something and a half.
"Alex Ferguson was one of the big names and he was an introduction through Ken Hom.
"What happened was one day he phoned to say he was doing a charity dinner for a friend and he said the friend wanted some wine advice and had suggested me.
"For several years, we'd be sending wine down to Alex as well as supplying it for that charity dinner at Old Trafford."
Quite possibly the most notable visitor was the lake Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip.
Crowds gathered on the harbour as they waved to and greeted onlookers before heading into The Beacon.
Other celebrity chefs who have visited the town include Jean-Christoff Novelli, Gino D'Campo and Ainsley Harriott.
The likes of Catherine Jenkins have visited the town several times as have bands like The Vamps and Status Quo.
At the peak of his career, the magician Dynamo also visited as have a number of other performers.
