This week Whitehaven RL has announced the departure of one of the club's directors Ashley Kilpatrick.

The club made the announcement this week through their social media platforms.

In an interview with Jordan Weir on the club's site, Mr Kilpatrick said: "I just wanted to announce that my time's come to an end.

"As a director of the club I just can't commit enough time anymore.

"I have left and it is purely because I can't commit any more time, it's a big ask and I've been doing it for three years and you just can't commit as much time as you'd like to anymore and I am sad about it.

"I'll be spending more time with my family, and I'll still be down every Sunday, I've told Jonty if he needs a hand with players I'll always be there for him he's a good coach and a good guy and he's been very supportive of me. Jonty's got my support and I'll be there to help him, I'll still be down for the games.

"The club are always looking for new directors, going forward everyone knows about the financial affairs that were broadcasted last year, we had an appeal last week to get a crowd of 1200 and it was disappointing we only got 750.

"If we want a rugby league team in Whitehaven you need to support the club and come through the turnstiles that's the only way this club will go forward.

"Don't get me wrong, there's stuff in the pipeline and if it does come off it'll be good for the club but going forward, I do wish the club the best."

Whitehaven suffered a tough defeat over the weekend as they played away to Featherstone Rovers. The final score from the game was 76-4 to Featherstone.

This weekend Whitehaven will be facing off against Swinton Lions on February 26 at 3pm at The LEL Arena.
