Here is this month's Woodend and District WI report from Barbara Reid.
President, Eleanor Graham, welcomed members to our February meeting, a special greeting was extended to visitor Susan Stamper.
After receiving apologies and reading the minutes, business was discussed. Our birthday party had been greatly enjoyed.
Louise Hethrtington was congratulated on successful rearranging of the venue after the unexpected closure of Hunday Manor Hotel. During the meal, Eleanor was presented with the rose bowl for accumulating the most competition points; Barbara Reid and Louise Hetherington were runners up.
The Federation County News was read, then our speaker, Natalie Burns, was introduced, Natalie is best known for beautiful paintings of local houses, but this evening told us of her poetry.
When teaching, she visited schools to run poetry courses. She told us tales of the children’s reactions, reading examples of their work.
Natalie also self publishes her own work. Her poems are both humorous and poignant. Eleanor thanked Natalie for a hugely enjoyable evening. During refreshments we enjoyed our raffle and competition results.
